MOORESVILLE, NC (February 23, 2013) – The Daytona International Speedway test drivers on patience and working the draft is big. Saturday’s Drive 4 COPD 300 was not without incidents and accidents.  After hitting the track on Friday with a new team, the #40 e-Swisher Chevrolet qualified in the 40th starting position for Saturday’s race.

The Motorsports Group crew dialed the car in and driver Reed Sorenson wrestled the car from 40th up to 6th place early in the Drive 4 COPD 300. The #40 Chevrolet met its first unfortunate event when the #01 of Mike Wallace got loose clipped the rear bumper and sent Sorenson into the infield grass, damaging the right side quarter of the car.  Crew Chief Gary Showalter somberly declared, “Typical Pack Racing.”

Sorenson’s day ended on Lap 102 when the #40 e-Swisher Chevrolet’s motor let go. Prior to motor issues Sorenson was running with the lead draft most of the day conserving his car for the late run, pushing the #18 of Matt Kenseth up to the lead pack before motor sent the TMG team home to a 30th place finish. Team owner Curtis Key said, “e-Swisher was on the car, we entertained our sponsor, and had good performance on the track early. Everybody worked hard and the car worked well in traffic.

The Motorsports Group looks forward to Phoenix International Raceway on March 2 for the Dollar General Pack Drafting 200.
